Squadron History

620 Squadron was originally a detached flight from 126 (Derby) Squadron. The squadron was formed on the 3rd March 1986. The squadron quickly grew in numbers and quickly became large enough that it had to move to its own premises.

Over the years the squadron has continued to grow from strength to strength. The Royal British Legion helped the squadron by arranging new accommodation on Tamworth Road in Duffield, and we officially became 620 (Duffield) Squadron.

In 1999 East Midlands Wing was split, and Duffield Squadron moved into Trent Wing, this did not affect the squadron and we continued to be very successful.

Early on in 2009, 620 (Duffield) Squadron moved premises from Duffield itself up the road to Belper. With the move the Squadrons name was changed to 620 (Derwent Valley) Squadron.
